Lyde Garden, entered by a gate on Church End just east of the churchyard, lets you look down into the springs at any time of year. The church holds a Sunday service at 10.30am; other opening could not be confirmed, so check before you go.
In Bledlow the church sits right on the edge of a spring-filled hollow. An old rhyme says if you live long enough, you'll watch it fall in.
Holy Trinity church at Bledlow stands right on the lip of the Lyde, a steep wooded hollow where springs burst out of the chalk and form a small pool. Because the church seems to teeter so close to the edge, an old local rhyme warns that anyone who lives long enough will see it slide into the Lyde. The antiquary Lysons explained that the springs were said to be wearing away the rock beneath it. The Victoria County History drily noted that disaster did not seem imminent, and the church still stands, perched above the water.
